Julius Matthys has had an extensive career in the resources sector holding managerial and operating roles at BHP Billiton over 30 years including; asset president Worsley Alumina, Alumina marketing director and vice president of iron ore marketing, and vice president of corporate affairs WA. He finished at BHP on 30 June 2016, having started at BHP Steel in 1982 in a marketing role, a filed in which he specialised for most of his career with the business which has seen him also based in Melbourne, Whyalla, Newcastle, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the Netherlands.
He sits on the board of Quintius (formerly TFS Corporation), chairs John XXIII College council, and is a director of Celebrate WA. His connection with TFS goes back to at least 2002 when he joined the board prior to its 2004 ASX listing and he stepped down in late 2005, along with several other directors who had seen the company through the listing process. He rejoined the TFS board in 2011.
