Mirvac CEO to lead housing advisory body
Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz will take the helm of the interim National Housing Supply and Affordability Council, which will have five more members, from next year.
Julie Collins is an Australian politician and a member of the Australian Labor Party, representing the Tasmanian seat of Franklin since 2007.
Ms Collins held ministerial office in the Gillard and Rudd Governments from 2011 to 2013, with the portfolios of Community Services (2011–2013), Indigenous Employment and Economic Development (2011–2013), the Status of Women (2011–2013), and Housing and Homelessness (2013). After Labor's defeat at the 2013 federal election, she was included in the shadow ministry. Following the Labor Party's victory at the 2022 federal election, Ms Collins became the Minister for Housing & Homelessness and Small Business under the Albanese government.
Prior to entering parliament, Ms Collins worked in various administrative positions for Tasmanian Labor MPs and state government departments including the state health department, state opposition leader, state premier, Department of Tourism, Parks, Heritage and the Arts (2003–2005). She was the state president of Young Labor in 1996, a delegate to state and national conference, and state secretary of the ALP from 2006 to 2007.
