Joseph Lloyd was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2015, and has practised in Victoria and Western Australia.
He has extensive criminal law experience after working as a federal prosecutor for the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, and as a lawyer for the WA Police Force. Mr Lloyd also spent several years at the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety where he managed a complex and high profile WorkSafe prosecutions, including regularly appearing as counsel on proceedings arising from serious or fatal workplace incidents.
Mr Lloyd has significant experience appearing in the Work Health and Safety Tribunal (previously OSH Tribunal) in relation to the review of administrative decisions including licensing matters and challenges to improvement and prohibition notices. He has delivered training on the implementation of the WHS Act, and the practical implications the new legislation will have on workplaces throughout Western Australia.
Mr Lloyd became a senior associate of Panetta McGrath's employment and workplace relations team in April 2023. He also assists the health law team, acting as counsel in vocational regulation matters in the State Administrative Tribunal.
