Jorja Brady has been recognised as a leader in the areas of family and divorce law, particularly in high-value and complex matters. Her practice is focused on financial cases including international matters with complex company, trust, partnership, and valuation issues.
Ms Brady commenced articles of clerkship at Carr & Co in February 2008 and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in April 2009. She appeared as instructing solicitor and junior counsel with many Perth barristers in a number of complicated children’s and financial cases, both in the Family Court of Western Australia and in the Full Court of the Family Court Australia. She was admitted to practice in the High Court in July 2011. In 2012, Ms Brady appeared as junior counsel to the Hon Peter Dowding SC in a successful appeal to the High Court of Australia involving property settlement and issues of constitutional interpretation. During her 14-year tenure at Carr & Co, she had been an associate, senior associate, legal practice director and shareholder. She left Carr & Co in January 2022, and has been a partner of Lavan's family law team since February 2023.
Ms Brady was nominated for the Family Law Practitioners’ Association Young Lawyer of the Year award in 2014, was named as one of the leading family and divorce lawyers, and recommended in the high-value and complex property matters category for family lawyers – Western Australia, 2017 by Doyle’s Guide.
Ms Brady holds a Master of Applied Law (Family Law), a Master of Laws (LLM) through the College of Law Australia, and undergraduate degrees in Law and Arts (majoring in History) from Murdoch University.
