Following graduation from the Royal Military College in Duntroon, Jonathan Throssell served as a commissioned Australian Army Officer in the Royal Australian Corps of Transport prior to commencing his career in local government in 1994.
He has held senior roles in human resources management in a number of local governments and has been a chief executive since 2001, firstly with Shire of Derby-West Kimberley before joining Shire of Mundaring in 2005, and Town of East Fremantle in September 2023.
Mr Throssell was a past president of LG Professionals Australia (WA), which is the peak representative body for local government professionals in Western Australia; is is a national director of LG Professionals Australia, and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Recognised for his values-based leadership and ability to drive improvement through organisational cultural change, Mr Throssell was appointed an Ambassador and male champion in the Year of Women in Local Government.
