Jon Young holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Sydney. After University, he joined Mobil Oil as a process engineer at its Adelaide Refinery and spent 17 years with Mobil in a wide range of management roles including engineering, operations, strategic planning, trading, marketing and sales with postings in Australia, US and Asia. His last role with Mobil was as chief executive of Indo Mobil, a joint venture between Mobil and the government-owned Indian Oil Company, based in New Delhi, India. In 2000 Mr Young joined Santos, Australia's second largest oil and gas company, as general manager of the South Australian Business Unit which contained the bulk of the company's assets and production. During his time at Santos, he held several senior executive roles which included responsibilities for HS&E, exploration, development, operations and sales. Mr Young was the Santos business leader responsible for the development and execution of Santos' Coal Seam Gas strategy which, through an acquisition and appraisal programme, enabled Santos to develop the industry leading Gladstone LNG project. He joined The Todd Corporation in January 2011 as group chief executive.
Jon holds dual New Zealand and Australian citizenship and is married with four children. His interests include family activities, motorcycle touring, travel and the arts.
