Boom time for Rottnest Island

John Spence is the British-born founder and chair of international hotel and resort business Karma Group. After establishing his first resort in Goa (India), Karma has more than 40 resorts around the globe.
Having spent long periods in Perth, he was selected as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Australia in 2010.
Mr Spence is described as a socially conscious entrepreneur, and one of the world’s most respected trailblazers and free thinkers in the fields of travel and entertainment.

A DECADE after proposing a resort development in Margaret River and one year on from losing a bid to develop a new Rottnest Island resort in Longreach Bay, Karma Royal Group has finally locked in business in Western Australia, taking control of the Rottnest Lodge.
