Karratha adjusts to its new ‘normal’
The transition of the Karratha economy away from its reliance on big construction jobs for resources projects has resulted in thousands of job losses.
John Lally OAM is an experienced chief executive within the not-for-profit sector, including 10 years in local government as deputy mayor of Karratha. Mr Lally was a WA Finalist in the Australian of the Year for 2006 and 2007, and awarded a "Citizen of the Year" by the City of Karratha in 2016. In 2018, Mr Lally was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his services to local government and to the community of Karratha.
