WAPC welcomes new members
The state’s peak planning body will go through a reform next month, with new members to be appointed but the size of the panel reduced.
John Carey is the Labor Party Member of the Western Australia Legislative Assembly for Perth.
Following Labor's win in the 2021 state election, Mr Carey became the Minister for Housing and Local Government in the McGowan government. In the December 2021 cabinet reshuffle, he added Lands and Homelessness to his portfolio.
Following the resignation of Mr McGowan in June 2023, Mr Carey became the Minister for Planning, Lands, Housing and Homelessness under the Cook government.
Mr Carey was mayor of Vincent from 2013 to 2016.
He founded the Beaufort Street Network, a local business and resident organisation aimed at revitalizing the precinct, and co-founded the Beaufort Street Festival.
