Joe Longo

Joseph Longo began his legal career in Perth as a corporate lawyer with Parker & Parker (now Herbert Smith Freehills). He worked in New York for a time starting around 1986, before returning to Australia. Mr Longo was a former national director, enforcement for ASIC, and was a Sydney-based senior counsel for HSF when he left the firm to join Deutsche Bank in 2002. He served in senior roles as Deutsche, including as general counsel for Asia-Pacific and later as general counsel UK, Europe, Middle-East, and Africa. In 2019 he left Deutsche and returned to Perth to join HSF once more, this time in the role of senior adviser. In 2021 Mr Longo was appointed chair of ASIC, for a five-year term commencing in June of that year.
