NEW ROLE: Managing Director, Si6 Metals | 19 Dec 2023 |
The single largest investment in Western Australia’s timber industry is about to start bearing fruit at a vast factory at the Neerabup industrial estate, north of Wanneroo.
Senegal-focused gold explorer Erin Resources has established a new board of directors, with Brett Mitchell appointed chairman and Nick Poll recruited as managing director.Mr Poll’s predecessor Grant Davey remains on the board as a non-executive director.
Bellevue Gold has appointed Fiona Robertson and Shannon Coates as non-executive directors. Ms Robertson has over 40 years of experience in corporate finance, including 30 years with emerging and mid-tier resource companies as a banker, CFO and non-executive director.
Our board moves wrap includes Martin Lackner, Sam Smart, Jim Malone, George Cameron-Dow, Simon Coxhell, Ryan Welker, and Jeff McGlinn.
Minerals explorer Si6 Metals will dive into some due diligence after entering into a joint venture and agreeing to acquire a 50 per cent interest in a portfolio of Brazilian lithium and rare earths projects. Management says the deal with Foxfire Metals is subject to a 30-day due diligence period and covers five tenements and five applications across four different project areas in Brazil.
Perth-based explorer Si6 Metals has moved to acquire about 178 square kilometres of tier-one Brazilian rare earths and lithium ground in that country’s renowned “Lithium Valley”. The company has completed its due diligence on the deal and will proceed with the acquisition of a portfolio of 10 tenements in partnership with the ground’s owner, Foxfire Metals, subject to shareholder approval and independent expert review.
Perth-based explorer Si6 Metals has promoted its executive director Jim Malone to managing director as the company matures rare earths and lithium projects in Brazil, in addition to other operations in Botswana and Australia. It comes after it moved to acquire about 178 square kilometres of tier-one Brazilian rare earths and lithium ground in the Jequitinhonha Valley – which is fast becoming known as “Lithium Valley”.
Si6 Metals has unveiled plans to kick off a 10,000m drilling program next month at three prospects within its flagship Maibele nickel sulphide deposit in Botswana, with a mineral resource upgrade looming. Management says mineralisation may extend along strike and at depth, allowing its inferred resource estimate of 2.38 million tonnes at 0.72 per cent nickel and 0.21 per cent copper to grow.
Si6 Metals is banging ahead with the drill at its Dibete copper-silver project in Botswana, having revealed that five out of 15 reverse-circulation holes are glittering with chalcopyrite and chalcocite in rock-chip samples. A diamond drilling rig has arrived onsite to test pipe-like geophysical anomalies at depth and the company believes it has “barely scratched the surface”.
Si6 Metals has jagged shallow, high-grade supergene and primary copper-silver drill intersections at its Dibete project in east Botswana, including 2m at a whopping 4.2 per cent copper and 268g/t silver. The hit is part of a 9m interval from 45m grading 1.54 per cent copper and 82g/t silver from the first two RC drillholes of an initial – and now completed – nine-hole, 1590m campaign.
Si6 Metals’ latest batch of drill assays from its Dibete project in Botswana show a hole with a bumper copper grade of 13 per cent, paired with 168g/t silver in a 1m section from 29m. The eye-catching chunk was within a 6.15m section going 7.2 per cent copper and 182g/t silver from 24.85m, including 0.5m at 10.8 per cent copper and 281g/t silver.
Si6 Metals’ wait for new assays from drilling at its Maibele North prospect in Botswana has stepped up a notch in intensity after core and rock chips revealed strong visual copper and nickel sulphide mineralisation. The company says it has seen pentlandite, chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite sulphide concentrations – which are indicators of nickel-copper-platinum group elements mineralisation – at the prospect near the Zimbabwe border.
Si6 Metals has added further impetus to its highly-prospective Botswana precious and base metals play, with its latest drill program striking high-grade silver and copper and exciting visual nickel sulphides. The company’s three projects in the southern African country provide a compelling mix of in-demand metals that are all expected to play a big role in the future clean-energy transition.
Si6 Metals has received the green light from shareholders to acquire a 50 per cent share in four Brazilian projects covering 10 exploration licenses and form a joint venture with seller Foxfire Metals. The purchase will see the company pick up the half share in tenements covering 17,000 hectares across three Brazilian States prospective for lithium, rare earths, gold, base metals and platinum group elements.
Si6 Metals has confirmed it is now the co-owner of 10 prime Brazilian exploration licenses covering a massive 17,000 hectares prospective for lithium, rare earths, gold, base metals and platinum group elements. And its new joint venture with Foxfire Metals plans to start exploring ground this month in the Caldera rare earths project area, which sits within the State of Minas Gerais.
Si6 Metals and Foxfire Metals are poised to launch their joint venture search for rare earths and lithium at their Caldera project in Brazil that sits near Meteoric Resources’ colossus Caldeira play boasting 409 million tonnes at 2626ppm TREO. Geophysical studies are underway and surface sampling will begin this week, while lithium exploration will begin in this year’s second quarter in the “Lithium Valley”.

Si6 Metals has unveiled clay-hosted rare earths hits from surface sampling at its joint-venture Caldera project in the State of Minas Gerais in Brazil, in addition to discovering further nickel-copper-cobalt at its Maibele North deposit, part of the company’s base and precious metals play in Botswana. Si6 will now kick-off an auger drill campaign at Caldera to test for higher-grade rare earths mineralisation at depth.
Si6 Metals has secured a second license at its JV Caldera rare earths project in the mining region of Minas Gerais in Brazil and will charge a drill-rig into the area to kick-off its latest program. The newly granted land borders that of Meteoric Resources exciting Caldeira rare earths project, where high-grade ionic-clay rare earths have been discovered at grades that are generally considered to be amongst the best in the clay based rare earths sector.
Si6 Metals has detailed plans to kick off its third drilling program in Brazil’s renowned “Lithium Valley”, with 20 auger holes to be plunged as the company homes in on lithium and rare earths soil anomalies going as high as 103ppm lithium and 710ppm TREO in the Padre Paraiso prospect area. The area has proven to be highly-prospective for lithium and rare earths.
Si6 Metals will assume a more commanding role in its Brazilian critical minerals joint venture with Foxfire Metals after lifting its stake in the partnership to a 70 per cent interest in any future licences – up from its 50 per cent share in the existing 10 licences. It signifies Si6’s commitment to its already massive Brazilian ground-holding, which is prospective for rare earths and lithium.
Si6 Metals has nailed high-grade hits of up to 5475 parts per million total rare earth oxides (TREO) from surface, including magnet rare earths up to 36 per cent, at its Caldera joint venture project in the notable mining region of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The company has today reported that its latest seven-hole auger drilling program intersected mineralisation in every hole.
