Jerry Ellis’ career included three decades at BHP, chairing the company from 1997 to 1999. He also served on the boards of several listed companies and governing bodies including Newcrest Mining, Aurora Gold, the International Copper Association, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, the International Council on Metals and the Environment, and the American Mining Congress.
Mr Ellis was Chancellor of Monash University, former President of the Minerals Council of Australia, and former chair of the Australia-Japan Foundation and the Australian National Occupational Health and Safety Commission. He is also a member of the Sentient Advisory Council and is on the advisory board of Anglo Coal Australia.
