Jenny McAllister is an Australian politician, a member of the Labor Party, and a Senator for New South Wales since 2015.
Ms McAllister was the Labor Party's national president from 2011 to 2015. In August 2018, she was appointed Shadow Assistant Minister for Families and Communities. Following the Labor Party's victory at the 2022 federal election, Ms McAllister became the Assistant Minister for Climate Change & Energy under the Albanese government.
Prior to entering parliament, Ms McAllister worked in the public and private sectors. Between 2006 and 2010, she was the director of climate change, air and noise policy within the New South Wales Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water. She subsequently joined AECOM Australia as strategic advisor for water and climate (2010–2013) before progressing to technical director for infrastructure advisory (2013–2014) and was managing director of water and urban development (2014–2015).
Prior to entering parliament, Ms McAllister holds a degree majoring in Politics and Government from the University of Queensland; and a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours, majoring in Political Economy, Politics and Government from the University of Sydney.
