State funding battle lacks the facts
Those who forget history often prefer to fill the void with myths.
Jay Weatherill AO was the 45th Premier of South Australia and the longest continuous serving Minister of the South Australian Labor Party. He was elected to Parliament in 2002, serving 16 years in a diverse range of portfolios including Treasury, State Development, Education and the Environment.
Mr Weatherill was Premier from October 2011 to March 2018, and has led successful national public policy debates. He was also responsible for the South Australian government's Early Childhood Development portfolio.
Mr Weatherill attained degrees in Law and Economics before establishing his own law firm in 1995 where he practised until he was elected in 2002.
In 2021, Mr Weatherill was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the people and Parliament of South Australia, particularly as Premier, and to early childhood and tertiary education.
