Janet Wagland is a well-known and much-respected voice in the disability sector locally, nationally and internationally and has been instrumental over her 26 years with Brightwater in the development of disability services, especially the world-leading Oats Street slowstream rehabilitation program for people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
Ms Wagland became general manager of community at Brightwater Care Group in 2016, bringing a strong understanding of the requirements for successful operations in an NDIS environment and the synergies between this and the client-directed care in residential and community aged care. She spent 12 years as manager of services for younger people, overseeing accommodation, rehabilitation, community and transitional services for people with ABI and accommodation services for people with Huntington’s Disease. Ms Wagland represents Brightwater on numerous external networks and committees across the disability and health sectors in WA and is sought after to speak on behalf of the ABI and Huntington’s communities.
She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy), and is an Associate Fellow at the School For Social Entrepreneurs Australia, having recently completed their NDIS accelerator program ‘Leading Innovation and Change’.
