Jane Prentice was elected as Federal Member for Ryan, as the Liberal National Party Candidate, in 2010. She was the Assistant Minister for Disability Services from February 2016 to May 2022 following the defeat of the Liberal Party at the federal election.
Prior to her appointment in Federal Parliament, Ms Prentice served for 10 years as councillor for the Brisbane City Council ward of Walter Taylor. She was also Leader of the Opposition in Council between 2007 and 2008, and Opposition Spokesman on Water and City Business. In 2006, Ms Prentice was appointed by the Lord Mayor to chair the City’s Water and Sewerage Infrastructure Assets Review.
Before entering public life, Ms Prentice owned and managed a successful convention and event management firm and was responsible for organising many of Queensland’s largest events.
