Harnwell to lead Football West
Former Perth Glory captain Jamie Harnwell has been appointed chief executive of the sport’s governing body in WA.
Jamie Harnwell was an Australian soccer player and current coach of Perth NPL club Sorrento FC and the Western Australian state soccer team. He holds the record for most appearances for Perth Glory, with 256 league appearances during his 13 years at the club.
In January 2022, Mr Harnwell became chief executive of Football West, the sport’s governing body in Western Australia. He joined the organisation in 2010 and has held various executive roles including as general manager of community football and game development, head of development, acting chief operating officer and chief football officer.

Former Perth Glory captain Jamie Harnwell has been appointed chief executive of the sport’s governing body in WA.
Construction is set to start this month on a new $32.5 million football centre in Queens Park, overseen by Perth-based builder Broad Construction.
This year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup and imminent completion of the State Football Centre open opportunities for the sport.
The Matildas' win on Thursday night has been followed by a $9.3 million investment into grassroots football by the state government.
