China stance remains unchanged: Albanese
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has reaffirmed Australia's commitment to maintaining the "status quo" in the wake of increased tensions with China.
James Paterson is an Australian politician, a member of the Liberal Party, and a Senator for Victoria since 2016.
In June 2022, following the Liberal Party's defeat at the federal election, Mr Paterson was appointed the Shadow Minister for Cyber Security & Countering Foreign Interference in the Dutton shadow ministry.
Prior to politics, Mr Paterson was a special advisor for Senator Mitch Fifield, and an intern for US congressman Lincoln Díaz-Balart. He then worked as a writer for the Victorian Employers' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) before joining the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) as editor of the IPA Review publication. In the IPA, Mr Paterson was promoted to director of communications and development, and then to deputy executive director in September 2014.
