James Gibson is a Certified Environmental Practitioner with extensive experience in technical and strategic project assessment, environmental practice management, and a specific skillset in the assessment and management of Per- and Poly-fluoryl Alkyl Substances (PFAS).
After several years working for an environmental regulator, Mr Gibson commenced work with a consultancy in 2007 where he was a project and technical director, as well as providing strategic client-advice and technical peer review. He co-founded environmental consultancy firm Western Environmental in 2011 and was business development manager until 2015 when he became managing director.
Throughout his career, Mr Gibson has successfully delivered a vast array of projects across the defence, aviation, infrastructure, construction and land development sectors. He is also a specialist technical advisor with international experience, including for USA State Environment Departments and water utilities to whom he provides expert advice in relation to PFAS assessment and management.
Mr Gibson is a member of Environmental Health Australia (EHA) and the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) where he held an executive position as treasurer on the WA committee from 2009 to 2016. He remains active as a panel assessor responsible for interview oversight and reporting to the Certification Board.
