JC van der Walt has been practising insurance law for more than 16 years in the areas of general liability, property and business interruption, professional liability (including D&O) and cyber insurance.
He has been an insurance litigator since 2006, and has instructed various counsel in several trials, appeals, arbitrations and coronial inquests whilst appearing as counsel at a Supreme Court trial and two Coronial Inquests. He has also appeared at more than 100 mediation conferences, pre-trial conferences and informal conferences.
Mr van der Walt has been involved in a wide variety of claims ranging from minor run-of-the-mill personal injury claims to the defence of complex and high value claims against senior officers and directors of multinational corporations for alleged continuous disclosure breaches and insolvent trading.
