
Dr Ian Watt AC spent nearly 20 years at senior levels of the Australian public service.
He was secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and head of the Australian Public Service, a position Dr Watt held from 2011 to 2014. Before that, Dr Watt was secretary of the Departments of Defence, Finance, and Communications, Information Technology and the Arts between 2001 and 2011; and deputy secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Dr Watt is chair of the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships, the ADC Advisory Council, and the Australian Governance and Ethical Index Fund Advisory Board. He is also on the board of Citibank, the Grattan Institution, EnviroPacific Services, the Committee for Economic Development, and a Member of the Council of the Australian National Maritime Museum.
Dr Watt is also a member of the Male Champions of Change, a member of the Melbourne School of Government Advisory Board at the University of Melbourne, a Fellow of ANZSOG, and a senior advisor to Flagstaff Partners.
