Ian Curlewis is the lead partner of the Employment and Safety team at Lavan and practises primarily in employment and workplace relations and the education sector. He is recognised in the area of employment by Chambers Asia Pacific.
Mr Curlewis has been involved in small and large industrial disputes and restructuring projects. He is experienced in drafting, negotiating and interpreting industrial awards, in enterprise bargaining and in anti-discrimination law.
Mr Curlewis has represented employers from the public and private sectors in the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, Fair Work Australia, Equal Opportunity Commission, Australian Human Rights Commission and courts on matters including unfair dismissals, contractual disputes, award breaches and discrimination and disability claims.
He also provides advice to employers on occupational safety and health issues in the workplace.
Mr Curlewis is also very experienced in the area of liquor licensing with over 20 years of experience, and has obtained a variety of liquor licences for applicants and regularly advises licensees on the operation and pitfalls of the Liquor Control Act.
