Ian Grandage has a background in classical music and, as a programmer, has curated the chamber music program for the Adelaide Festival and been the artistic director of Melbourne’s Port Fairy Spring Music Festival. He was also the artistic director for Perth Festival for 3 years.
He has received Victorian Green Room Awards, the prestigious Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award for an Individual, and the APRA/AMC award for Vocal Work of the Year for his opera based on Tim Winton’s novel The Riders. In 2023, Mr Grandage received the West Australian of the Year award for Arts & Culture.
Mr Grandage has been composer-in-residence with the WA Symphony Orchestra and has a history of collaborating with indigenous artists across the country.
