Heng Ching Chew has more than 30 years of experience in the public and private sectors and has held a number of senior roles including as chair, chief executive and managing director for Bonvest Holdings, Chosen Holdings, Pharmesis International, Spindex Industries, Sinopipe Holdings and Stratech Systems. He also serves on the board of Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities and Ang Mo Kio-Thye Hua Kwan Hospital. Mr Chew was the founding president of the Singapore Institute of Directors and chair of its governing council from 1998 to 2009, and a council member of Singapore Business Federation. He was also chair of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce from 2005 to 2007 and remains a board member. Former Deputy Speaker of the Singapore Parliament and Member of Parliament from 1984 to 2006, Mr Chew was chair of the Estimates (Budget) Committee and sat on the Public Accounts Committee. He was also the coordinating chair of all PAP Town Councils in Singapore. Mr Chew, who started his career in Government Administrative Service, is a graduate under a Colombo Plan Scholarship in Industrial Engineering (First Class Honours) and Economics from the University of Newcastle, Australia. As a university gold medallist, he also holds an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering.
