From 1987 to 2001, Helen Sewell AM was executive director of an ASX listed company and was responsible for the construction of Australia's first specialist cancer treatment centre for adolescents which opened in 2006 at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth. She was chair of Perth College, a private girl's school, and was on an advisory committee to The Australasian Sarcoma Study Group. In 2010, Ms Sewell was awarded an AM of the Order of Australia in recognition of her service to the community through her philanthropic contributions to, and executive roles with, medical research groups and organisations such as Redkite that assist young people with cancer.
