Thunderbird Resources has scooped the services of industry veteran George Ventouras as executive chairman in a shift the company says is a strategic move to accelerate an ambitious exploration agenda at its Rockvale and Kookabookra antimony-gold projects in New South Wales. Ventouras has stepped into his new role following the resignation of former executive chairman, George Bauk.

Thunderbird Resources has completed a review of historical exploration data uncovering high-grade assay samples up to 49.8 grams per tonne gold and 4.1 per cent antimony at its newly acquired Rockvale and Kookabookra projects near Armidale in New South Wales. Four of the tenements, covering 358 square kilometres, form the Rockvale project and are strategically positioned near Larvotto Resources’ exciting Hillgrove gold-antimony project.

Thunderbird Resources has expanded its gold footprint in NSW, lodging an application for a strategic 118-square-kilometre expansion to its Kookabookra gold project immediately to the east. The company is doubling down on its gold presence in the state, suggesting that Kookabookra could host an intrusion-related gold system – similar to the kind of deposits that’s delivered multi-million-ounce gold hauls at places such as Fort Knox in Alaska and Kidston in Queensland.

Thunderbird Resources has kicked off exploration at the company’s Rockvale and Kookabookra gold, silver and antimony projects in NSW’s northern Tablelands after getting access to priority target areas. The company’s initial focus will be on targets that have historical high-grade assay results as it doubles down on its gold presence in the state.
