Gemma McGrath practises in the areas health and aged care law, vocational regulation and dispute resolution. She provides advice to aged care providers regarding their legislative responsibilities, risk management, debt recovery issues and guardianship and administration matters. She also acts in professional conduct matters on behalf of various health practitioner regulatory boards and AHPRA.
Ms McGrath represents clients at coronial inquests and in the State Administrative Tribunal. She also acts for public hospitals in civil claims, appearing regularly in both the Supreme and District Courts of Western Australia.
Before studying law, she trained as a registered nurse and worked in several Queensland public and private hospitals, specialising in intensive care.
Ms McGrath is recognised in Doyle’s Guide as a pre-eminent Western Australian medical negligence and malpractice lawyer (defendant). She is also named in Best Lawyers in the categories of insurance law and professional malpractice litigation.
