Gavin Loyden founded QEM (formerly known as Queensland Energy & Minerals) and was responsible for its early capitalisation. He oversaw the initial exploration program and scoping study, which resulted in a large JORC resource being identified.
Mr Loyden was forced to resign from QEM in mid-2018 due to deteriorating and painful neck and back problems. He underwent several surgical procedures in 2019 which has remedied the problem, and he is now back to full fitness.
Mr Loyden is a substantial shareholder of QEM and rejoined the company in February 2020 as managing director.
He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Queensland Exploration Council and the Queensland Resources Council.
