Patronage push for arts funds
While acknowledging the importance of state funding arts bodies are seeking ways to reduce their dependency on the public purse.
Before arriving in Australia, Gavin Buckley was director of the leading UK charity fostering creative partnerships between business and the arts. His particular enthusiasm was visual art and he led the development of an innovative new service helping regional artists lease and sell their work. He joined Artsource in late 2012, bringing to the team his experience of leadership, strategic development, fundraising, marketing and communications. Previously, Mr Buckley was director of regional fundraising at the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and managed the UK Government’s ‘Pairing Scheme’, encouraging private sector sponsorship of the arts. Mr Buckley is an enthusiastic advocate for the visual arts, with a modest but growing collection of British and Australian art. His is also a Speaker Coach at TEDxPerth and an Artsource Patron.
