Quigley unveils legal appointments
Two experienced legal figures will join the Supreme Court bench in 2024, among a suite of appointments announced by Attorney General John Quigley this week.
Gary Cobby SC has nearly 30 years of experience in the conduct of commercial litigation. He appears mainly in the Supreme Court of Western Australia (usually in the Commercial and Managed Cases List), the Court of Appeal, and the Federal Court of Australia.
Mr Cobby was admitted to practice in 1990, elected to the bar in 2008, and appointed a senior counsel in 2018.
His areas of expertise included administrative law, contract and property matters, insolvency, mining law, proceeds of crime, professional negligence and succession.
Mr Cobby was a barrister at Francis Burt Chambers before becoming a Judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia on 29 January 2024.
