Garry Hunt

Garry Hunt held executive positions in local government since 1977. He has worked at the City of Joondalup, City of Perth, and City of Melville. From 2002 to 2005, Mr Hunt specialised in overseas consulting and completed assignments in South Africa and Malaysia. He also acted as an adviser to the business sector in relation to local government activities.

Mr Hunt held executive positions with the Institute of Municipal Management (now Local Government Professionals Australia) and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) based in Washington DC, USA.

He was awarded a Public Service Medal in 1998, the Local Government Managers Australia (WA) Medal in 2004 in recognition of his contribution to the local government profession, the WALGA Local Government Distinguished Officer Award in 2015, and the Leader of the Year Working in Local Government from the Institute of Public Administration Western Australia in 2018.
