Edward Clerk has over 20 years of ESIA and systems management experience having been principal consultant, mining environmental manager and government regulator across the resource, construction, chemical manufacturing and transport sectors. His consulting work has focused on mining, infrastructure, chemical supply chains and construction projects in Australia and internationally. This has predominantly centred on ESIA and approvals, EHS systems development & auditing, and legacy sites.
Mr Clerk has been with Golder Associates since April 2005, and the mining manager for Australia and New Zealand since January 2020. He was also a principal and manager of the mining environment group for EMEA and APAC regions where he established a profitable business in a challenging environment.
Mr Clerk is a recognised international expert in environmental management in mining, chemical manufacturing and supply chains. He is an EIANZ Certified Environmental Practitioner, registered by Exemplar Global as a Certified Lead Environmental Auditor and Lead Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Auditor. He has also been approved by the International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) as a lead auditor and technical expert auditor for transport operations, chemical facilities and gold mining operations.
As an environmental manager on complex hydrometallurgical plants and remote international mine site, Mr Clerk has established systems and developed teams to deliver environmental and social solutions in challenging cultural and regulatory frameworks. As a senior inspector for the Queensland EPA, he was responsible for the environmental planning and licensing of diverse range of industry, environmental compliance and enforcement activities.
