Duncan Ferguson has over 15 years of experience in industry and commercially-focused research collaboration, investment, IP management, commercialisation and startups. He is chair of Bioherbicides Australia, a Queensland-based startup commercialising woody weed control technologies. He is also president elect of LESANZ, the Australia and New Zealand chapter of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), an international community of innovation and commercialisation professionals. Prior to joining CSIRO, Mr Ferguson held commercialisation and business management roles in research and investment organisations including UniQuest, BSES, Queensland Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, and Meat & Livestock Australia. He has managed technologies across animal and plant supply chains including genetic and genomic tools, pest and disease control, breeding, digital platforms, automation and robotics, value-added food products, biopharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals.
