Don Hyma has over 30 years of global mining and resources experience; principally in copper, nickel and iron ore in Canada, Chile, New Caledonia and Australia. His experience spans early-stage studies through implementation and startup.

Mr Hyma became the managing director of Australian Rare Earths in October 2021. Prior to that, he was with Fortescue Metals Group as project director of Iron Bridge before becoming director of projects from October 2019 to February 2021. He was also the chief technical officer of Mitsui & Co and held senior management positions with Rio Tinto including as vice president of projects for the Iron Ore Company of Canada and general manager of mine and infrastructure projects for Rio Tinto Iron Ore.

Mr Hyma holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, a Master of Science in Mineral Processing, an International Executive Management Diploma from INSEAD in France and Singapore, and is a Fellow of the
Australian Institute on Mining and Metallurgy.
