Big wins for WA in Albanese ministry
Anthony Albanese has announced his 23-person cabinet with some major responsibilities for Western Australians in the outer ministry.
Don Farrell is an Australian politician and a Labor Party member representing the state of South Australia.
Appointed the Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and Urban Water in September 2010, Mr Farrell was promoted to the outer ministry in March 2013 as the Minister for Science and Research and the Minister Assisting on Tourism in the second Gillard Ministry. In July 2013, he became the Minister for Sport and Minister Assisting on Tourism in the second Rudd Ministry. Mr Farrell failed to be re-elected to the Senate at the 2013 federal election, and his first term concluded in June 2014. In 2016, he was endorsed as a Labor candidate for the Senate in South Australia in the 2016 federal election and was subsequently re-elected, and returned to the Labor frontbench in October 2016. Following the ALP's victory at the 2022 federal election, Mr Farrell became the Minister for Trade & Tourism, Special Minister of State, and Deputy Leader of the Government in the Senate under the Albanese government.
Prior to politics, Mr Farrell was a trade union leader.
