David Whitaker

David Whitaker is a high-tech entrepreneur with extensive expertise in building high growth digital businesses. After 17 years in IT & digital recruitment, Mr Whitaker founded and built businesses spanning mobile apps to group buying to digital agencies. He has built successful businesses in both Australia and the Asia Pacific which have expanded into Singapore, Shanghai and the Philippines. He was responsible for negotiating and winning outsource contracts, such as for HSBC Investment Bank and has provided strategic counsel to brands such as SAB Miller, Yahoo and Macquarie Bank. Originally from Australia, Mr Whitaker has lived in Hong Kong for 10 years. He founded Thred in 2015 and was its executive director and chief executive until July 2017, when he decided to step down from full-time executive responsibilities but remains with the company as a non-executive director instead.
