Dr David Tyrwhitt has over 50 years of experience in the mining industry.
Dr Tyrwhitt worked for over 20 years with Newmont Mining Corporation in Australia, South East Asia and the United States where he was in-charge of the discovery of the Telfer Gold Mine in Western Australia. He was chief executive of Newmont Australia Limited between 1984 and 1988, and chief executive of Ashton Mining between 1988 and 1991.
Dr Tyrwhitt established his consultancy business in 1991, working in South-East Asia and China with Australian, Canadian and British mining and exploration groups as a consulting geologist.
