David Thodey AO is chair of the Commonwealth Science, Industry & Research Organisation (the national research organisation for Australia) and Tyro Payments. He is also a director of Ramsay Health Care, Vodafone Group and XERO.
Mr Thodey was chief executive and executive director of Telstra, appointed in May 2009 and retiring on 30 April 2015. Prior to joining Telstra, Mr Thodey was chief executive of Australia and New Zealand at IBM. During his 22 years at IBM, he held several senior executive positions across Asia Pacific.
Mr Thodey is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In 2017, he was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for services to business and the promotion of ethical leadership and workplace diversity.
