David Littleproud is an Australian politician who has been a member of the House of Representatives since the 2016 federal election, representing the Division of Maranoa. He is a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland, and sits with the Nationals in federal parliament.
Mr Littleproud has been the Minister for Agriculture, Water Resources, Drought and Emergency Management since 20 December 2017 following a rearrangement of the Second Turnbull Ministry. He was viewed as a potential candidate to replace Barnaby Joyce as National Party leader in February 2018, and was elected deputy leader in February 2020. Mr Littleproud relinquished his Water portfolio but regained the Agriculture portfolio as part of the reshuffle in February 2020. In July 2021, following a leadership spill and the re-election of Barnaby Joyce as Nationals leader and deputy prime minister, Mr Littleproud lost his drought and emergency management portfolios, but retained agriculture and gained the Northern Australia portfolio. He relinquished his ministerial portfolios in May 2022 following the defeat of the Liberal Party at the federal election. A week later, Mr Littleproud was elected to replace Barnaby Joyce as leader of The Nationals. In June 2022, he also became the Shadow Minister for Agriculture in the Dutton shadow ministry.
