David Leavy has over 25 years of experience in the banking and mining industries, covering a wide range of commodities across Australia, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Guinea. He has experience in debt and equity markets, physical and derivative commodity markets specifically in gold, bauxite, iron ore, base metals, oil and LNG.
Mr Leavy has been the managing director of ChemX Materials since May 2021. Prior to that, he was the managing director of Peak Minerals and chief financial officer of several mining companies undergoing project development, requiring implementation of appropriate business processes, government negotiations, team establishment, and logistics. Mr Leavy had also spent 19 years with Westpac, providing extensive experience in financial markets, currency and commodity derivatives trading and project financing to junior mining companies.
He holds a Bachelor of Economics from Murdoch University, and a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.
