David Gonski AC AO is one of Australia’s most respected business leaders and company directors with business experience in Australia and Asia, and a broad range of involvement with the government, education and community sectors.
Mr Gonski was awarded an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia in 2002 for his service to the community through Australian visual and performing arts organisations, the development of government policy and the promotion of corporate sponsorship for the arts and charitable organisations. He also received the Centenary Medal in 2003. In 2007, Mr Gonski was invested as a Companion of the Order of Australia for service to the arts through charitable support and the development of policy initiatives, to business and commerce as a company director, to education, and to the community through a range of philanthropic endeavours.
Mr Gonski is the Chancellor of University of New South Wales and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Fellow of the Australian Society of Practicing Accountants. He holds a Bachelors of Law and Commerce degree from The University of New South Wales, and an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from University Of Wollongong.
