IT firms have heads in the cloud
SPECIAL REPORT: Cloud computing is changing the game for providers and those businesses that use the service.
Craig Scroggie has substantial leadership experience within the IT and telecommunications industries, having held senior positions with Symantec, Veritas Software, Computer Associates, EMC Corporation and Fujitsu. Prior to joining NEXTDC, Mr Scroggie was Symantec’s vice president & managing director in the Pacific, the company’s fastest growing region. Prior to becoming chief executive of NextDC in June 2012, he was its non-executive director for 18 months including as chair of the Audit and Risk Management Committee. Mr Scroggie twice served as a judge in the Office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner’s Australian Privacy Awards, and twice given evidence as an expert witness in the Australian Government Standing Committee on Communications Inquiry into Cyber Crime, and the Federal Parliament Joint Select Committee on Cyber Safety. He was previously chair of the Storage Networking Industry Association Board, deputy chair of the Foundation for IT Sustainability (FFITS), member of the international CEO Forum, governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia, and trustee for the Committee for Economic Development of Australia. Mr Scroggie currently holds the position of Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Business, Economics & Law at La Trobe University and serves on the La Trobe Business School Advisory Board. He was recently chair of the La Trobe University Graduate School of Management Board. Mr Scroggie is a Graduate and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, Fellow of the Australian Sales & Marketing Institute, Graduate of the University of Southern Queensland. He holds an Advanced Certificate in Information Technology, a Graduate Certificate in Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, and a Master of Business Administration. In 2013, Mr Scroggie was awarded the University of Southern Queensland Faculty of Business & Law Alumnus of the Year, and in 2015 he was inducted into the ARN ICT Industry Awards Hall of Fame.

NEXTDC has struck a deal with ASX-listed Superloop, giving the Brisbane-based company connectivity to the new Indigo subsea cable system for its Perth operations, including an $80 million data centre currently under construction.
ASX-listed NEXTDC has officially opened its new 20MW data centre in East Perth, adding further capacity to the company’s existing Malaga facility.
