Craig Meller was appointed chief executive of AMP in January 2014, and quit the role in April 2018 following revelations regarding AMP's conduct revealed during the Financial Services Royal Commission. He had been a director of AMP Life from October 2007 and director of The National Mutual Life Association of Australasia since March 2011. Prior to becoming chief executive, Mr Meller was managing director of AMP Financial Services from 2007 to 2013. He began with the AMP group’s UK business in 2001 before coming to Australia in 2002 to take up the role of managing director, AMP Banking. He moved to the role of director, product manufacturing in 2003. Mr Meller started his career at Lloyds TSB in the UK where he spent more than 14 years working across the business in a number of management roles. He was managing director of Virgin Direct from 1999 to 2001.
