Clare O’Neil is an Australian politician and a member of the Australian Labor Party, representing the Victorian seat of Hotham since 2013.
Ms O'Neil was elected mayor of the City of Greater Dandenong in 2004 at aged 23, becoming the youngest female mayor in Australian history.
She became the Shadow Minister for Justice in 2016; Shadow Minister for Financial Services in 2018; Shadow Minister for Innovation, Technology and the Future of Work in 2019; and Shadow Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care Services in 2021. Following the Labor Party's victory at the 2022 federal election, Ms O'Neil became the Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security under the Albanese government.
Prior to entering federal parliament, she was a manager at McKinsey & Company.
