Curtin University appoints new deputy vice-chancellor research
Chris Moran has been appointed as Curtin University’s new deputy vice-chancellor, research commencing his role in August 2016.
Before joining Curtin University as deputy vice-chancellor, research in August 2016, Professor Chris Moran was professor and director, Sustainable Minerals Institute, at The University of Queensland, a position he had held since 2007
Previously, he was founding director of the Centre for Coal Seam Gas and founding director, Centre for Water in the Minerals Industry, both at UQ.
Across a 16-year career with CSIRO, Prof Moran held a range of leadership roles including heading the team that developed the Water for a Healthy Country Flagship Program.
He holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences (with Honours) and a PhD from the University of Sydney, and has a strong international and national reputation for his research and expertise in soil science (digital image processing), natural resources (spatial modelling and statistics) and water management.
