Dr Chris Mitchell has over 20 years of experience in Australian and international climate change research, where he held senior and executive roles.
Dr Mitchell was with Seafarms Group, an Australian sustainable aquaculture company, from 2008 to 2021 as an executive director and managing director of its Project Sea Dragon. He was also an adjunct professor at the School of Environmental Science in Murdoch University, managing director of CO2 Australia for 3 years, foundation director of the Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research (a partnership between CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology), and chief executive of the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Accounting.
Dr Mitchell also chaired the Victorian Climate Change Minister’s Reference Council on Climate Change Adaptation, and is on CSIRO's Environment and Natural Resources Sector Advisory Committee.
He holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Melbourne, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
