Big architecture firms expand
Two of Perth’s largest architecture and design firms, Hames Sharley and Cameron Chisholm Nicol, have expanded by recruiting the founders and staff of two smaller Perth practices.
Chris Maher is Hames Sharley's director and national portfolio leader for urban development. He has over 25 years of experience practising architecture and urban design in the UK, Hong Kong, and throughout Australia. Prior to joining Hames Sharley, Mr Maher was the director of Studio 53 which he co-founded in 2009, following a number of successful national and state directorial roles with Mirvac. During his tenure there, Mr Maher and Studio 53 won numerous awards including urban design, heritage and Australian Institute of Architects awards. His key skill is facilitating vital, vibrant and healthy places and buildings in which people and communities can grow. His experience combines design with a creative and pragmatic approach to the detailed delivery of many successful built projects.
