Jim McDowell has resigned as non-executive director of Austal. Mr McDowell has accepted an appointment to become chief executive of the Premier and Cabinet in South Australia.
Charlie Sartain has over 30 years' experience in the mining industry. In the earlier part of his career, Mr Sartain had executive experience in MIM Holdings culminating in his appointment as its most senior executive in Latin America. After the takeover by Xstrata, Mr Sartain spent 9 years as chief executive of Xstrata's global copper business, which became it's most profitable commodity division with operations and projects spanning 8 countries. Mr Sartain is currently a member of the Senate at University of Queensland, chairman of Advisory Board of the Sustainable Minerals Institute, and board member of Wesley Medical Research Institute.
