Carol Kane is an associate in the Perth office of FB Rice and works with clients to identify, capture and secure their intellectual property rights, enabling them to confidently add value to their business. She is passionate about aligning her clients’ intellectual property with their business strategy. Ms Kane has extensive experience acting for clients across a broad range of industries including medical devices and diagnostics, waste and waste water treatment/processing, ag-tech and resource-based technologies. This experience, coupled with her involvement in handling oppositions and trade mark disputes in Australia, China, Europe and the Philippines, affords her a unique perspective when understanding her clients’ needs. She specialises in patent drafting and prosecution, trade mark protection strategy, freedom to operate, infringement advice, IP and business strategy, and IP dispute resolution. In addition to advising on IP rights, Ms Kane also assists the local innovation community through creating and delivering seminars and workshops that educate business owners and brokers on capturing and leveraging IP to increase value to their business. Following completion of her Bachelor of Science (Biological Sciences/Biotechnology, Honours) at Murdoch University, and Masters of Intellectual Property Law through the University of Technology Sydney and the IPTA Academy, Ms Kane went on to complete her Master of Business Administration (Executive MBA) at the University of New South Wales’ Business School. She is a Registered Australian Patent & Trade Mark Attorney.
