Campbell Olsen is the chief executive and director of Arete Capital Partners, a resource-focussed global private equity firm.
Mr Olsen has a long career in private equity and operational management in the mining industry. He also has extensive experience in international private equity practice and process having spent several years as an investment manager with Nomura Jafco and also as general manager (Australasia) of Advent International, a Boston-based multi-billion dollar international private equity company.
In 2003, Mr Olsen established Polarity Capital, a private equity & advisory firm that specialised in a “hands-on” approach to its investments, with Mr Olsen regularly assuming the role of chief executive of its investee companies for varying durations to provide turnaround and expansion strategies as well as drive and directional clarity.
From an operational perspective, he has acquired, managed and run downstream mineral processing operations along with upstream resources assets both in Australia and abroad. His experience encompasses asset/opportunity identification, due diligence, negotiations of acquisition terms and structure, on-going operational reform & improvement through to exit strategies. Mr Olsen has managed exploration programs, JORC- compliant resource estimate programs, mine design and operations primarily across iron ore, silver and rare earth metals.
He completed a Bachelor of Engineering from Victoria University and a Masters in Business Administration from Melbourne Business School.
